We delight in the particular kind of pressure that comes with a wedding day: the sense that everything, down to the smallest detail, should feel intentional. As though it could not have looked any other way. That is the feeling Élan Flowers sets out to create every time we take on a wedding.
We design bespoke wedding florals for couples across New York City and the Tri-State area. No two weddings we build look alike, because no two couples are alike. Our aesthetic runs elevated and timeless, yet it is always shaped around a couple's personal style first, then executed in harmony with the venue they have chosen. A TriBeCa rooftop, a Hudson Valley barn, a ballroom on Park Avenue. Each one asks something different of us.
Our involvement begins long before the wedding day. For many of our couples, it starts with a proposal: a single, perfect bouquet meant to make an already unforgettable moment even more so. From there we are present through engagement dinners, rehearsal florals, and finally the wedding itself, from the first design consultation through day-of coordination. We are not handing off an order and hoping for the best. Our team is in the room, translating a couple's vision into something they could not quite have pictured themselves, but instantly recognize as exactly right.
Just as the gown so often sets the tone for the wedding, the bridal bouquet sets the tone for the florals. From there the design unfolds: the chuppah, the table settings, the aisle treatments, and the creative details that speak to what makes each couple their own.
Drawing out that vision is its own art. These are some of the questions we ask a bride, and they give a sense of how we listen:
• What words describe the style of your gown?
• What drew you to your venue?
• What do you love most about it?
• What do you believe makes your story unique, and how can we reflect it?
• What is the one thing you absolutely must have at your wedding?
• What is the biggest dream for your day that we can help realize?
• Are there cherished family traditions you are especially excited to honor?
That range, from a single proposal bouquet to a full-scale ceremony and reception, asks a great deal of a floral team. It means our designers must be equally comfortable with restraint and with scale, with a boutonniere
and with an arch. What stays constant is the process. Every detail is treated as though it is the only one that matters, because on someone's wedding day, it is.
We have had the privilege of being trusted with hundreds of these days. Each one different. Every one of them, we hope, felt as perfect for the couple as it did for us.
